Daily Health Screening
Sometimes I accompany my grandkids to their preschool in Singapore. It is interesting to watch the health screening routine conducted on the kids when they enter the school every morning. The child and the accompanying parent are greeted by two teachers at the entrance.
One teacher checks the temperature of the child and the other inspects the mouth of the child with a torch. Then the child sits in front of another teacher, removes the footwear, and the teacher inspects the hands and feet of the child.
The children keep the footwear in a cubbyhole, the water bottle in another one, and the school bag in yet another one. They enter barefoot into the classroom and sit on the floor ready for their day ahead!
The Principal said that this oral and physical health screening is conducted as per the directives of the Ministry of Health, Singapore. The children found having any problem are sent back with their parents.
It is a system worth implementing in India that provides an early warning to the parents regarding ill health of their kids and also prevents spreading of any infectious diseases.
