Proliferation of Left Wing Extremism!
No doubt JNU is India's most prominent liberal arts University. But why is it that there are so many left leaning intellectuals, consisting of both students and professors, in JNU as well as in many of the top social sciences universities in India today? Let me try to answer this crucial question.
Left-wing extremists try to overcome the existing state and social order by replacing democracy with a Communist system. They take part in social and political debates and protests in order to make their ideology seem more socially acceptable. Presently in India, Communism thrives brightly in Kerala, simmers in West Bengal, and smoulders in many urban and suburban pockets of India.
The post independence history of India shows that the Congress government embarked on the path of socialism under the leadership of Nehru. He saw Soviet Union as the land where such a system prospered successfully. During this time the Congress government actively collaborated with the Soviets and extended state patronage to ‘leftist’ and ‘progressive’ thinkers and writers. The Soviets fully exploited this opportunity and started vigorously infiltrating Indian minds to convert a free society to one embracing Communist ideals.
While the CIA was pursuing the classical approach of infiltrating various organizations with spies, USSR’s KGB was following an insidious method of infiltrating our minds with ideas and were slowly and steadily subverting India. Their subtle ideological brainwashing was so successful that it was an irreversible process. We completely failed to realize that
Soviet Union was bringing a new type of colonialism to India which was thousand times more oppressive and exploitative than any colonialism and imperialism in the history of mankind.
The Indian politicians, journalists, and other intellectuals selected by Russia for propaganda purpose were considered (rightly!) as a bunch of political prostitutes. Yuri Bezmenov, a KGB agent who was sent to India during Indira Gandhi’s tenure, says that his team was instructed to create a gang of Indian idiots by brainwashing them into Communist Ideology.
Listen to this 15 min narrative by the KGB agent to know more about the details of the elaborate and systematic processes employed by USSR:
He recruited many intellectuals who acted as puppets to brainwash the masses of India. He claimed that even if Indians were told the truth they would not have believed it, since the ideological brainwash was so deep, measured, and implemented clandestinely and covertly.
According to him:
Russia was paying money to Delhi University professors, Left wing Communists parties, writers, poets, Indian Media, Indian newspapers, Naxalites and Maoists to promote Russian Communist Ideology in India.
Though the Soviet Union was dissolved in 1991 the seeds they have meticulously planted are still producing weeds wildly in many parts of India. It appears that the present day left wing intellectuals who are instrumental in the process of subversion to destabilize the nation are grown out of the seeds planted through the elaborate and systematic processes, half a century ago, by the Soviets. The successive generations are now in power and many of them hold influential positions in politics, education, bureaucracy, media and many other spheres.
How can we stop the fast spread of this parasitic weeds in the society? One way is to teach the social psychology behind these dangerous indoctrination and brainwashing techniques in our schools and universities to make the youth aware of this cancerous growth in the society.
