The New World According to Trump

The world is stepping into a new era, one that will be fundamentally different from what we know today. The American people elected President Trump with a decisive victory and a mandate for change. Trump's "America First" doctrine signals a departure from traditional US diplomatic practices. Historically, the US has maintained a dominant position in global politics, economics, and military affairs. Trump's new policies suggest a potential decline in US dominance, which will reshape the global political landscape.

The Intelligence And Security Team

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) is an independent agency that integrates intelligence to protect the United States. The ODNI's goal is to defend the country's interests abroad and homeland. The ODNI role is more supervisory, overseeing all 18 of the nation's intelligence services. Unlike the CIA, it does not deal in direct intelligence collection. ODNI assembles the intel from the various agencies to put together products like the President's Daily Brief.

John Ratcliffe, former director of national intelligence during President Trump's first term, has been approved on Jan 15 by the Senate Intelligence Committee as the new CIA Director — the first person to have held both jobs.

Vice President Vance had to break a Senate tie to confirm Pete Hegseth as Trump’s Secretary of Defense.

Trump on Nov 11 had picked Republican Representative Mike Waltz to be his National Security Adviser. The NSA is a powerful role, which does not require Senate confirmation. Waltz will be responsible for briefing Trump on key national security issues and coordinating with different agencies.

Trump Nominees

Kash Patel

Every Indian would be proud of the fact that Kashyap Pramod Vinod Patel, at 44 years old, has been nominated for the prestigious role of Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). This nomination makes him the highest-ranking Indian American in President Donald Trump's incoming administration. Interestingly, he is set to replace Christopher Wray, who was initially nominated by President Trump during his first term in 2017 to succeed James Comey.

Kash Patel, as he is called, was born in New York to Indian Gujarati immigrant parents and was raised in a household of his father's seven siblings, their spouses, and half a dozen children. If confirmed, he would be the first Hindu and Indian American to be FBI Director.

Tulsi Gabbard

Tulsi Gabbard, 43 years, is nominated as the Director of National Intelligence. If confirmed, she will become the highest-ranking Pacific Islander American government official.

She is a combat veteran, 4-term member of Congress, and 2020 Democrat Presidential candidate who left the party in 2022.  A dedicated yoga enthusiast, she consistently practices morning yoga and meditation. While she has identified herself as a vegetarian, some sources have noted her as a vegan. Raised with Hindu values, she follows the Vaishnava tradition and holds the Bhagavad Gita as her spiritual guide. She also describes herself as a Karma Yogi. In 2013, she took her oath of office with her personal copy of the Bhagavad Gita.

She puts country before party and approaches every issue, domestic and foreign, based on ensuring the safety, security, and freedom of the American people.

What Got Them Nominated

Kash Patel

It's clear that Kash Patel's extensive experience as a top official in the White House, Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, and Department of Justice played a significant role in his nomination. However, it was his best-selling book from September 2023, "Government Gangsters: The Deep State, the Truth, and the Battle for Our Democracy," where he highlighted the severe lack of accountability in the government, that ultimately solidified his position. This is readily apparent from Donald  Trump's endorsement of the book:

“A brilliant roadmap highlighting every corrupt actor, to ultimately return our agencies and departments to work for the American People…we will use this blueprint to help us take back the White House and remove these Gangsters from all of Government!”

In "Government Gangsters," Kash Patel exposes the inner workings of the Deep State, shedding light on the key players and strategies within the entrenched government bureaucracy that has spent years eroding power from the American people and their elected officials. Drawing from his firsthand experience, Patel outlines how we can dismantle the Deep State, reclaim self-governance, and restore our democracy.

He makes the startling accusation that a nefarious group of corrupt law enforcement personnel, intelligence agents, and military officials at the highest echelons of government conspired to overthrow a president. Despite their failure, they continued to covertly wield power without any accountability to the American people. He further asserts that the highest levels of government have been infiltrated by an anti-democratic Deep State and believes that the situation can be rectified by refocusing the national security mission and steadfastly defending the truth.

Tulsi Gabbard

In October 2022, Tulsi announced her departure from the Democrat Party. Similar to Patel, she passionately expressed her views on a variety of subjects in her April 2024 book, "For Love of Country: Leave the Democrat Party Behind" where she states:

"The party I joined over twenty years ago no longer exists today. I could no longer remain in today’s Democrat Party, which is now under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers fueled by cowardly wokeness who divide us by racializing every issue and stoke anti-white racism, actively work to undermine our God-given freedoms enshrined in our Constitution, are hostile to people of faith and spirituality, demonize the police and protect criminals at the expense of law-abiding Americans, allow our borders to remain open while claiming they are 'secure', weaponize the national security state to go after political opponents, and, above all, drag us closer to nuclear war with each passing day."

The Confirmation Hearings

Kash Patel, Trump's nominee for FBI director, appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee, while Tulsi Gabbard, Trump’s nominee for National Intelligence director, appeared before the Senate Intelligence Committee. The Democrat senators, while grilling the nominees in the most aggressive fashion, pinned them down over their past actions and comments. The day-long grilling, sometimes extending to an additional day, meticulously captures the entire biography of the candidate, detailing both their good and bad deeds in vivid detail.

Kash Patel

On Thursday, January 30, 2025, President Donald Trump's nominee Kash Patel faced hours of questioning from the Senate Judiciary Committee. He made a notable impression at his Senate confirmation hearing by introducing his parents with a 'Jai Shri Krishna' greeting. Under intense scrutiny from senior Senate Democrats, Patel defended his loyalty to the Constitution and pledged to restore public trust in the FBI.

The Judiciary Committee chairman, Sen. Chuck Grassley, closed the hearing by thanking Patel for his testimony, saying:

"You did very well and your reputation leading up to and during this hearing, I think, proves that you're a person that can stand a lot of heat, including a president telling you how to do your job".

Kash Patel's  job is to restore the public trust and to return the FBI to its core mission of fighting crime.  For this purpose, he will enjoy a 10-year term, to insulate the position from politics, leading a law enforcement entity of more than 38,000 agents, a monumental task vested with great authority and enormous power over the American nation. During the hearing he said:

"There is enough violent crime and enough national security threats to this country that the FBI is going to be busy going forward preventing 100,000 overdoses, 100,000 rapes and 17,000 homicides."

Tulsi Gabbard

Another confirmation hearing that took place on Jan. 30 was that of Tulsi Gabbard as the nominee for Director of National Intelligence.  Her hearing took place before the Senate Intelligence Committee chaired by Senator Tom Cotton. She faced tough questions from both sides of the aisle about her past support for Edward Snowden, a meeting with now-deposed Syrian leader Bashar Assad and other controversial comments about Ukraine and Russia.

The wide-ranging role as Director of National Intelligence would mean she oversees US intelligence agencies like the CIA, FBI and the National Security Agency (NSA), which focuses on intelligence gathering. If she is confirmed to the role Gabbard would manage a budget of more than $70bn  and oversee 18 intelligence agencies.

US Senate Hearings

The United States Constitution provides that the President "shall nominate, and by and with the advice and consent of the US Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the Supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided".

A Senate hearing is a meeting or session of a Senate, House, joint, or special committee of Congress, usually open to the public, to obtain information and opinions on proposed legislation, conduct an investigation, or evaluate/oversee the activities of a government department or the implementation of a Federal law.

The US Senate Committee hearings are known for their thoroughness and rigor. These hearings often involve detailed questioning of nominees, witnesses, and experts on a wide range of issues, from judicial appointments to legislative proposals. The committee members, who are senators, meticulously examine the qualifications, backgrounds, and views of the individuals appearing before them.

The Modus Operandi

Congressional hearings can be intensely rigorous, sometimes even brutal and humiliating. They scrutinize every public statement a person has ever made, as well as private remarks made in official settings. A throng of press, armed with video cameras, captures every nuance of the subject's reactions. Anyone seeking career advancement must be prepared to endure this intense scrutiny.

Held in public, these proceedings are officially recorded by the relevant committee and broadcast live to the world by news outlets. The potential of facing such intense public examination can instill a strong sense of accountability and responsibility in those who might be subject to them.

These hearings can also delve into current job performance, as demonstrated by the experiences of numerous senior officials during the investigation of the Trump assassination attempt. In such cases, the consequence can be forced resignation.

The Flipside

The masterful and grueling questioning by knowledgeable US senators, such as Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley, for example, is a visual spectacle for the spectators. One can appreciate the necessity of interrogating and questioning relevant officers, during the investigation of the Trump assassination attempt, to address procedural lapses and operational gaps, thereby establishing responsibility and accountability.

However, the dramatic public spectacle created by the grand cross-examinations of Secret Service and FBI Directors at Congressional Hearings is not only damaging to the country but also turning the nation into a global laughingstock.

By publicly exposing the inefficiencies, incompetencies, failings, miscommunications, and other vulnerabilities of the premier security and investigation agencies, the US is inadvertently providing lethal ammunition to enemy countries and groups, allowing them to intensify their attacks. Additionally, this situation paints an appalling picture of the nation in front of the world audience.

Global Aspirations of the Trump Team

From his campaign speeches, it's evident that Donald Trump is committed to ending any existing wars and refraining from initiating new ones. Let's hope that President Donald Trump with his handpicked National Intelligence Services team will usher in a new era by adhering to the words of Franklin Roosevelt, the longest-serving US president since 1933. In his final message to the American people in 1945, just hours before his death, President Roosevelt said:

"We, as Americans, do not choose to deny our responsibility. Nor do we intend to abandon our determination that, within the lives of our children and our children's children, there will not be a third world war.

We seek peace — enduring peace. More than an end to war — an end to the beginnings of all wars. Yes, an end, forever, to this impractical, unrealistic settlement of the differences between governments by the mass killing of peoples."

The blend of American values and Hindu values that Kash Patel and Tulsi Gabbard bring, as two key players of the Trump's inner circle of advisers, will herald a new era for the American public. American values include individualism, equality, liberty, and diversity while the Hindu ethical code emphasizes truth, right conduct, love, peace, and non-violence.
