Digitizing the Middlemen!

Eliminating brokers, intermediaries, touts, and middlemen from many of the services offered by the Government to the public has been the hallmark of this Administration, ever since Modi came to power. We have middlemen of various types operating in the country.

Corruption-free Covid19 Vaccination

Vaccinating a billion people against Covid-19 with equitable access to vaccine by the common men is a monumental and stupendous task. Before middlemen could step in, the Government streamlined the whole process. The Centre has done an excellent job of setting up the Co-WIN portal for booking appointments and downloading the Vaccination Certificates with features like Aadhaar authentication, SMS reminders, access with Aarogya Setu and DigiLocker Apps, and 24x7 helpline. The portal records each and every vaccination given to the citizens, making the whole colossal exercise free of corruption and middlemen.

RTO Brokers

Everyone would have encountered at the Regional Transport Offices (RTO) of all the State Governments across the country the ubiquitous middlemen who take bribes from you to get any work done. Just a week ago, the Central Government has made eighteen RTO services online, related to driving license and certificate of registration. This will help the citizens to avail these services in a hassle-free and contactless manner using Aadhaar authentication.

Farmers' Intermediaries

The Center's move on direct payment of MSP to farmers' bank accounts, and the requirement of a PAN card for a trader who procured farm produce, thereby tightening the noose on the corrupt middlemen, is one of the main reasons for the so called 'farmers' agitation. The protest against the Farm Bills that aim to double farmers’ income in two years, is purely anti-farmer and is actually playing with the lives of poor farmers.

Poor-men's Brokers

Direct Benefit Transfer or DBT is a scheme launched by Government to directly transfer subsidies to the people through their bank accounts. In the last 5 years, over ₹9 lakh crore has been directly transferred to bank accounts of beneficiaries. DBT has removed corruption and eliminated middlemen from delivery of Government benefits to common citizens. Also, it has removed millions of duplicate and fake beneficiaries, thus plugging enormous leakages. About 450 government schemes are linked to DBT, including for cooking gas, rural employment, fertilizer subsidy, students stipends & scholarships, farmers schemes, disability pensions, ex-servicemen welfare, contract staff payments, and more.

NGO Facilitators

As many as 14,500 NGOs, registered under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA), were banned in the last five years from receiving funds from abroad. Several of these NGOs are involved in rights-based advocacy work, especially working in the domain of human rights, but often are involved in carrying out anti-national activities. There are also state-funded NGOs running drug rehabilitation and de-addiction centers, homes for senior citizens, residential schools for SC\ST children who receive an annual grant of ₹25 lakh each from the government. They have been blacklisted for providing sub-par services and violating the standard norms set up by the ministry

Lutyens' Gang

The first and the most revolting group of middlemen who was summarily dismissed as soon as Modi government took over, was the influential and powerful Lutyens' gang members. These men and women were not only amassing humongous commissions from major government and defense contracts but were also instrumental in influencing and even formulating government policies. These deal-makers included politicians, journalists, businessmen, bureaucrats, and celebrities of various types who suddenly found themselves loosing lucrative businesses. This whole gang therefore turned completely against Modi, and even after seven years they are relentlessly pursuing their anti-Modi diatribe from within and outside the country in the most devilish and crooked manner.

When you look at the whole scenario it is easy to see why Modi Government is facing strong opposition from the corrupt opposition parties, international advocacy groups, and middlemen of the country who are the main contributors of black money.
