Why Are Many Indians So Unhappy?
It is a fact that many Indians are wallowing in self-pity condemning the dismal state of the nation caused by several factors such as the failed demonetization, faulty GST implementation, abrogation of Article 370, anti-CAA protests, inept handling of the humanitarian crisis, the plight of the migrant workers, Covid vaccine mismanagement, the insecurity and fear that the religious minorities face, the
betrayal of farmers, increasing petrol prices, rising unemployment and inflation, the pathetic situation of the country's economy, the weakening of institutions, denial of fundamental right to privacy using Aadhaar, increasing corruption, cronyism, and bank scams, India's poor standing on the world stage, and the overall failure of the Government on all fronts.
This segment of the population lives in an environment of excessive anxiety, continuous worry, psychological stress, emotional disorders, increased heart rate, elevated blood pressure, uncontrolled sugar levels - in short everything that reduces their life spans.
I would like to remind them of what Mark Twain, in his old age, once observed:

How do they end up like this? It can be easily seen that all these miserable Indians have their daily morning doses of adrenalin rush of momentary excitement by glancing through the screaming news headlines such as 'Fascist India', 'Nationalist Modi', 'Majoritarian ruling party', 'Saffron terrorism', 'Hindu fundamentalism', 'Hindu supremacists tearing India apart', 'Hindutva Ideology: a variant of right-wing extremism', 'How BJP is destroying India', 'Election Commission's Reputation in Tatters', and what not.
Both the western media and their Indian counterparts vie with each other in contributing heavily to this sad state of affairs. However what the naive, exploitable, and unsuspicious readers don't realize is that these sensationalist but deplorable daily news reports have nothing to do with these media outlets' concern or love for our country or their eagerness to serve the communities.
These types of reporting are nothing but part of their devious and cunning schemes to increase their ad revenue at the cost of the physical and mental health of gullible Indian readers! These media outlets are celebrating their success and profit making schemes by paying their reporters handsomely for producing more such dismal stories about our country!
Should we become victims of these diabolical plots of the media? We have to think and decide. The choice is ours. To quote Mark Twain again:

“I am an old man and have known a great many troubles, but most of them have never happened.”With their blinkered outlook and prejudiced attitudes, these irritable lots have become incapable of enjoying their lives and have no time to reflect on the momentous transformational journey of our country in different areas.
