Essence of Sanatana Dharma!
Yesterday I was blessed to receive an autographed copy of Professor Visvanatha Krishnamurthy's most recent book 'A Primer of Spirituality'. This was when I took my IIT Madras colleague, Prof K V Shantha Vasudevan, Retd Mathematics Professor of Miranda House University College for Women, Delhi to his house.
I should say I am doubly blessed because this day also happened to be my star (nakshatra) birthday.
Professor Krishnamurthy's newest offering is a magical elixir for an inquisitive mind, a distillation of his lifelong study of India's sacred texts condensed into a 195 page paperback in the form of answers by a penetrating mind to 108 frequently asked demanding and formidable questions on different aspects of Sanatana Dharma.

The last section of the book starts with this paragraph:
And that is what this book is all about. The essence of the innumerable scriptures that constitute Sanatana Dharma, the fountainhead of Indian culture and human civilization.

"The scriptures are innumerable; the things to be known are many; the time at our disposal is short; the obstacles are too many. It is therefore important to grasp the essence and essence only."
