How Can We Matter

On Feb 26, 2019 evening PM Modi unveiled the world's largest Bhagavad Gita at Delhi's ISKCON temple. The giant book that ISKCON created weighs 800 kg, measures 2.8 m x  2 m , and runs into 670 pages! "Dubbed the Astounding Bhagavad Gita , it is billed as the largest principal sacred text ever to be printed," the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) said.

Is there any purpose or explanation at the core of our existence ? Is there God or any other transcendent force ? This is a rather long post touching on existential questions involving the meaning of life !  Well, if you are still interested read on.

During the 2014 elections Indians were incensed over the enduring culture of corruption at all levels of the government and this was the prime factor that helped Modi to become the PM. Now, on the eve of the 2019 elections, the opposition leaders are unable to find any major faults with Modi's governance. Lacking any concrete programs for the development of the country, the Congress party has decided to attack Modi with the same coin - a mega corruption case - in spite of the fact that Modi has an unblemished track record in public life . Though Supreme Court , after examining the relevant strategic and confidential documents, have completely ruled out any probe in the Rafale deal , the Congress President has stated that he will take the issue to the ‘ People’s Court ’! My 40 year-old tattered diary with memories of my first visit to USA reminds me of the two weeks I had spent in Los Angeles during 13 - 26 June 1982, staying at the Wilshire Dunes Motor Hotel , 4300 Wilshire Boulevard .

This post argues that literacy is the main obstacle to progress in the most literate State of India. Literacy by itself just makes people aware of their rights and entitlements but not about their responsibilities to the society. Literacy does not give them the power to discriminate between good and bad  character and conduct as well as between right and wrong behaviors . 

Divine presence, presence of God, inner God, etc. is a concept in religion, spirituality, and theology that deals with the concept of a god "present" in human beings. We are all part of the human race and have the spark of God's light within us. All religions teach basically the same thing.
