Are We Ruled By Mafia?
How dare one asks such a question? We are ruled by a democracy! A government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them through a system of representation involving periodically held free elections.
Democracy - a system of government in which the common people hold political power.
However, were we ever ruled in a democratic fashion? Just look at the recent past. True, we had a free election and we had chosen our representatives. In 2004, we elected the Congress-led UPA to power. The 2009 general election saw the UPA return with an increased mandate. The UPA ruled for 10 full years from 2004 to 2014 under Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, a renowned economist, a reputed academic, and an unblemished politician.
But then, it turned out that, it was all a façade to fool the public. For all practical purposes, we were ruled by a Mafia of criminals, traitors, and the corrupt. They were fully busy emptying the government's coffers and in looting the national resources. When our elected representatives finished their allotted term, there was a total of 4.82 lakh crore scam perpetrated by the Manmohan Singh led government.
During the UPA term, some of the cabinet ministers, including the PM, setup several dubious NGOs for their selfish interests and for other nefarious activities. Looking back, it is well known that the UPA ministries, the representatives that we elected, and the bureaucracy together facilitated an organized system of loot and corruption, especially during its second term.
Since it came to power in May 2014, the BJP Government had to cancel the FCRA licenses (Foreign Contribution Regulation Act) of 20,000+ NGOs. The main objective of FCRA was to prohibit acceptance and utilization of foreign contribution for any activities detrimental to the national interest and to restrain foreign intervention from internal, domestic matters.
Now, let us take another scenario, farthest from the national capital, in the Left Democratic Front (LDF) ruled Kerala, described as God's own country and which boasts 100% literacy. From what is being revealed by the ongoing NIA-led investigations into the massive organized gold smuggling scam, it again appears that the state is ruled by a criminal nexus of ministers, bureaucrats, police personnel, politicians, racketeers, terrorists, and religious fundamentalists. And they are all involved in treasonable, treacherous, subversive, traitorous, and anti-national activities of undermining the country's economy, supporting terror financing, and threatening national security. In Kerala, large scale corruption has penetrated all levels of governance and has become a major threat to national security.
Look at another happening, making rounds now, in the commercial capital, Mumbai. An upcoming, highly talented, well educated gem of an actor, Sushant Singh Rajput, who apparently took his own life to escape from the mental torture, intimidation, and harassment of a criminal mafia of Bollywood gangsters. Here again, it appears that, instead of protecting the common man, the law enforcement personnel are siding with the rich and the powerful, as all Bollywood deals are fueled by high-octane black money contracts.
Finally, consider what our elected representatives are currently doing in Rajasthan. Is there any semblance of democracy in the works for the good of the common man? Our representatives are cooped up in 5-star luxurious resorts haggling over crores of black money, arranged by the mafia groups of businessmen, underworld dons, and factions inimical to India.
Under this Mafia rule, we, the common men, are condemned to irrelevance, and ridiculed and treated with contempt and sarcasm, by our own elected representatives.
What is our last resort?
